Hatch:An Art Party On October 9 at Festival Hall, Hatch:An Art Party brings dance, visual art, new discoveries and surprises, transforming Festival Hall into an entirely new experience. It features Touching, the artistic alias of songwriter and producer Michael Falk; Black-Canadian multi-instrumentalist, composer and sound artist Jairus Sharif; Cuban-born dancer, educator, and choreographer Mara Liao Esnard; dancer, choreographer, and producer Catherine Hayward; flutist, improvisor, composer, curator and Ginger Beef co-leader Jiajia Li; creative trumpeter and collaborator André Wickenheiser and Dene multidisciplinary artist Casey Koyzcan. The icing on the cake? It’s also a celebration of the release of dark art pop songstress Laura Hickli’s new album, Stranger To Myself, which explores themes of grief and recovery, with an accompanying cathartic live show filled with gripping sonic soundscapes, fearless emotional vulnerability, and visceral performance art.
