SEEDS OF TIME FESTIVAL Curated by Aejay Antonis Marquis Sponsored by Play On Shakespeare Six new plays developed over three weeks. This second annual festival invites audiences to explore the collision of fresh contemporary voices with classic stories. A living laboratory of imagination, craft, and bold new directions for the theatre. All Tickets are Choose Your Price Tell Winter By Tim West Tell Winter reframes Shakespeare's The Winter’s Tale. It is a story of a pair of comrades whose brotherhood is challenged by a strange bout of irrational jealousy. An innocent woman is accused of adultery by her husband, an Iraqi war veteran with PTSD. When madness and toxic masculinity rule, weaponized misogyny and infanticide reign. Can the hired assassin, murderous bear, and talking statue be far behind? How is redemption possible in a world like this? Forgiveness—like mercy—is unconstrained. It can come in the absence of any contrition—as it must, when Time puts us “beyond all hope of having had a better past.” Engaging with Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale Tim West (Playwright - Tell Winter) is in his 40th year as a theatre artist, with 40 plays staged to date. Not all are verse plays, but Great Reckoning in a Little Room was published in Best of Red Bull, vol 2 in 2015, the same year A True Historie of Prince Prospero featured in the San Diego Fringe Festival. As 2016-17 Creative Catalyst Fellow with the San Diego Foundation, West wrote Upstart Crow. Pericles, Where-You-Will is a site-specific work. His short plays—staged from Colorado, Illinois, and Virginia to Kent, U.K.—include the verse plays Ireland Stumbles and Due.
