Daughter of Nectar 甘露水 (2025)

About the Film:
Huang Tu-shui, the first Taiwanese artist devoted to fine art, created Daughter of Nectar, a life-sized marble nude, during the Japanese colonial era while studying in Tokyo in 1921. After World War II, under the Nationalist government, the sculpture fell victim to rising hostility toward Japanese culture. Abandoned at a train station, it was defaced when vandals splashed ink across the nude figure’s groin. A local surgeon, recognizing its cultural significance, rescued and sheltered it throughout decades of martial law. Its eventual return to public view reflects Taiwan’s renewed recognition of its artistic heritage after 38 years of dictatorship.
《甘露水》是臺灣首位現代雕塑家黃土水於1921年完成的大理石裸女像，不僅是一件人體藝術經典，更如一尊靜默守望的存在，凝視著臺灣近百年來的歷史軌跡。從日治時期的啟蒙微光，到戰後白色恐怖的壓抑與掙扎，作品映照出這座島嶼的苦難與蛻變，以無聲之姿見證歷史風霜與人們的堅韌。
About the Directors:
Huang Pang-Chuan was was born in Taiwan and graduated from Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains in France. His works always contain three elements: memory, travel, and traditional film techniques. His films 'Return' and 'Last Year When the Train Passed by' won the Grand Prize of the Lab Competition at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in 2018 and 2019, two years in a row, and were selected for both Locarno Film Festival and International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).
Lin Chunni was was born in Japan and graduated from a department of architecture. Her work explores film, spatial environments, and the history of prewar Taiwan. Yen Yen and The Comfort in Forgetting were selected for festivals including Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, São Paulo International Short Film Festival, and DMZ International Documentary Film Festival.
黃邦銓出生於台灣，畢業於le Fresnoy法國當代藝術中心，作品中常包含三個元素：回憶、旅行與傳統底片。《回程列車》與《去年火車經過的時候》兩部作品連續兩年獲得法國克萊蒙費宏實驗競賽首獎，並入選盧卡諾影展與IDFA阿姆斯特丹國際紀錄片影展；林君昵出生於日本，畢業於建築系。作品關注關注底片、空間場域以及台灣戰前歷史。《淹煙》、《移忘》兩部作品入選法國克萊蒙費宏短片影展、巴西聖保羅短片節與韓國DMZ國際紀錄片影展等影展。自2019年開始兩人密切合作，以小規格膠卷發展史聚焦日本與台灣間，戰前的殖民歷史，兩人合作首部紀錄長片《甘露水》，國際首映於MoMA紀錄片雙週2026，並入圍第62屆金馬獎最佳紀錄片。
