国際文化会館では、会員間の交流等を目的とし、各界で活躍されている方をお招きした「会員特別講演会」を実施しています。 今回の会員特別講演会では、野球を通じて築かれてきた日本とアメリカの人と人とのつながりを通じた草の根外交の歴史を描いた作品『Diamond Diplomacy(ダイヤモンド・ディプロマシー)』の監督、ユリコ・ガモウ・ロマー氏と、日本人初のメジャーリーガーで、「マッシー村上」の愛称で活躍した村上雅則氏をお招きし、トークショーを開催いたします。 100年以上にわたって政治的・文化的な違いを超えて日米を結びつけてきた野球の力についてお話しいただきます。 日付:2026年10月30日(金) 時間:18:30~20:30(18:00開場、会員懇親会込み) 会場:国際文化会館 樺山・松本ルーム(東京都港区六本木5-11-16) 用語:日本語 会費:会員ご本人様とお連れ様お一人まで 6,000円/名 スピーカー:ユリコ・ガモウ・ロマー氏(映画監督)、村上雅則氏(日本人初MLB選手) 内容:トークショー、懇親会(軽食とお飲み物をご用意します) ユリコ・ガモウ・ローマー (監督) ユリコ・ガモウ・ローマーは、スポーツで文化を紐解く受賞歴のある映画監督。作品に第二次大戦の日系人強制収容所を描く『Baseball Behind Barbed Wire』、女性初の柔道十段を取得した福田敬子(1913-2013)を描く『Mrs. Judo(邦題:女子柔道のパイオニア)』がある。スタンフォード大学の修士制作『Occidental Encounters』は学生アカデミー賞を受賞した。 村上 雅則 (日本人初MLB選手) 村上雅則(1944年5月6日生まれ、愛称:マッシー)は、日本の元プロ野球選手。日本人初のメジャーリーグ(MLB)球団でプレーをしたことで知られる。南海ホークス入団後の1964年、20歳の時にアメリカへ派遣され、サンフランシスコ・ジャイアンツにてデビューを果たす。1966年に契約上の理由により南海ホークスへ復帰し、その後も17年に渡り活動を続けた。 ※キャンセルについて※ お申し込み後のキャンセルにつきましては原則として承っておりません。 ご承知の上、お申込みいただきますようお願い申し上げます。 ---- I-House hosts Special Lectures for Members featuring distinguished practitioners from various fields to foster exchange among members. For our October lecture,we are pleased to present a talk show featuring Yuriko Gamo Romer, director of Diamond Diplomacy (a documentary depicting the history of US–Japan grassroots diplomacy through baseball), and Masanori "Mashi" Murakami, the first Japanese player in Major League Baseball. Yuriko Gamo Romer (Director) Yuriko Gamo Romer is an award-winning filmmaker known for exploring culture through sports. Her works include Baseball Behind Barbed Wire, which depicts the WWII incarceration of Japanese Americans, and Mrs. Judo, about Keiko Fukuda (1913–2013), the first woman to earn 10th dan in judo. Her Stanford University graduate thesis film, Occidental Encounters, won a Student Academy Award. Masanori Murakami (日本人初MLB選手) Murakami Masanori (born May 6, 1944), nicknamed "Mashi", is a Japanese former baseball pitcher. He is notable for being the first Japanese player to play for a Major League Baseball (MLB) team. Sent over to the United States by the Nankai Hawks, Murakami played with San Francisco Giants, debuting at the age of 20 in 1964. In 1966 Murakami headed back to the Nankai Hawks due to contractual obligations, where his success continued for another 17 years.
