Award-winning playwright and performer Tamara Micner will lead participants in an interactive workshop where they will learn how to translate popular songs into Yiddish!
As a Yiddish educator, Tamara knows tips and tricks to approaching the language, and is excited to share that with you! Bring a notebook and pen, and get ready to kvell with all the Yiddish you’ll learn.
Tamara Micner hails from Coast Salish land/Vancouver and now lives in London, England. Her previous shows at Chutzpah! include What You're Missing, Old Friends and Holocaust Brunch (nominated for two Jessie Awards). Other past projects & collaborations include A Secret Life, Wink the Other Eye, Fantasmagoriana, and Climate Grief Karaoke. She co-founded the London Shpilers - London's first Yiddish theatre company in decades - and leads Yiddish-theatre workshops around the world, in addition to teaching Yiddish to all sorts of mentshn.
This fun workshop is free for all; registration is required. No previous Yiddish knowledge is needed!

This event is organized by the Chutzpah! Festival and co-hosted with the Peretz Centre for Secular Jewish Culture. Our doors are open to people of diverse cultures, beliefs, genders, sexual orientation, and ability.
Parking is available on the street or in the underground parkade (elevator accessible).
Please note that doors will lock automatically at 2:15pm. If you arrive late, please ring the doorbell for "Peretz Centre" at the front entrance.

Tamara’s Panto Yankl and The Beanstalk will receive its North American Premiere at the festival on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 7:30 PM, and on Sunday, November 15, at 3:00 PM at Norman & Annette Rothstein Theatre.
