How does a film find its audience? Please join Danny in this practical workshop which explores today’s film distribution landscape, from festivals and theatrical screenings to streaming and digital release. Participants will learn how marketing, audience development, release strategy, and revenue intersect, with specific consideration given to both documentary and narrative filmmaking—and how thinking about distribution early can strengthen a film’s path to audiences.

Instructor Bio
Danny Costa
Danny is a film distribution consultant with nearly 20 years experience in transacting film deals and an occasional teacher but mostly pays the bills working as a volatility trader. He joined the Guelph Film Festival in 2026 and looks forward to bringing his love for teaching and sharing his experience in the film business to support the Guelph film community.
In addition to his professional work, Danny has a passion for comic books, science fiction novels and macroeconomics. Danny has a B.S. in Film & Television from Boston University and an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business.
