Hawaiian Immersion Farm Preschool Fridays is a nature- and ʻāina-based program for parents and/or caregivers and keiki ages 1–5, held entirely in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi on the farm at Keiki and Plow. This small-group program brings together ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, ʻāina, culture, and the natural curiosity of early childhood in a setting where language is lived, explored, and enjoyed together.During our mornings on the farm, families will mālama ʻāina, visit and care for our farm animals, harvest and enjoy farm-fresh foods, sing mele, hear moʻolelo, create, play, and explore together, all through ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi. Like our Farm Preschool program, Friday mornings embrace the wonderfully messy, curious, and playful nature of these early years while nurturing connection to ʻāina, one another, and place.All are welcome. Families do not need to be fluent in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi or currently enrolled in a Hawaiian language program to participate. Whether ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi is already part of your ʻohana or you are just beginning your journey with the language, we welcome you to learn, listen, participate, and grow alongside your keiki.Program Details6-week sessionOctober 16, 2026 -November 20, 2026Fridays9am-12pm$400/child and caregiver1/1 ratio is requiredREGISTRATION REQUIRED, NO WALK-INSThis session is held in all weather; however, in the event of a complete rainout, make-up days will be rescheduled. We encourage each family to discuss their comfort level joining this session, knowing that we will be hosting classes in varying weather conditions. We ask that you come to class ready to experience all conditions with a playful, curious mindset and with rain boots, jackets, and a change of clothes.About Our KumuKumu Kahoaliʻi Keahi is an environmental scientist, educator, cultural practitioner, and program developer whose work brings together contemporary science, Hawaiian knowledge, and community-based stewardship.His professional experience spans environmental science and studies, higher education, water-quality research, data science, sustainable agriculture, curriculum development, and community engagement. As an educator and mentor, Kahoaliʻi centers experiential and place-based learning, weaving Hawaiian language, values, cultural practices, and mālama ʻāina into opportunities for learners to connect with the ʻāina and communities around them.Kumu Kahoaliʻi has developed and led educational experiences ranging from early childhood ʻāina-based learning to undergraduate environmental research, internships, and community science initiatives. Through Hawaiian Immersion Farm Preschool, he brings this depth of knowledge and experience to our youngest learners, creating a space where keiki and their ʻohana can experience ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, culture, science, and mālama ʻāina as naturally connected parts of learning and growing together.
