A social group for the intellectually curious — meet new people, explore big ideas, and join thought-provoking discussions.About the ProjectThe Martineau Project is a new social group for the intellectually curious in London. Inspired by James Martineau, nineteenth-century philosopher and leading figure in Unitarianism, this project aims to bring together people who share a love of learning and want to think beyond the boundaries of individual subjects, encounter new ideas, and exchange perspectives through lively discussion. Each month, two visiting speakers will introduce a thought-provoking question drawn from their area of expertise — from economics to music, literature to philosophy — followed by time for questions and conversation. What to ExpectNo two evenings will be the same. One evening you might hear an economist unpack the changing dynamics of modern dating; the next, a cultural historian might explore the surprising links between 19th-century Liszt fans and today’s Swifties; another, a classicist might trace how the ancient world thought about love. The common thread is curiosity: engaging talks that open up new perspectives, delivered in a welcoming atmosphere where discussion is encouraged. Whether you come alone or with friends, you can expect a relaxed evening of ideas, inspiration, and conversation with others who share a love of learning.Get your tickets now. Tickets are now on sale for The Martineau Project’s launch on Wednesday 14th October 2026 at The Common Press bookstore in Dalston, featuring two fascinating talks from Dr Johann Go (‘Should private healthcare exist in an equal society?’) and Dr Natalia Parker (‘How can we make language learning more effective?’).
