Join us for a captivating Celtic Pub Night, an unforgettable evening of music, merriment, and community spirit, all while supporting the Dundas Pipes & Drums. Nestled in the heart of Dundas, Ontario, the Shawn & Ed Brewing Company sets the stage for a lively fundraising event where the rich traditions of Celtic culture come to life. Immerse yourself in the enchanting melodies of Celtic music, sing along with fellow enthusiasts, and let your feet tap to the rhythm of spirited dancing. As the night unfolds, the soul-stirring sound of bagpipes will fill the air, evoking the very essence of Scotland. Don't miss this opportunity to celebrate and contribute to a cherished local institution while revelling in the joys of Celtic heritage. FEATURED PERFORMERS The Dundas Pipes and Drums is a community band that has continously operated since 1947. Over the years, we have performed in many competitions, parades, concerts, and tattoos in Ontario. We are a not-for-profit Band whose mission is to provide musical services in support of the Community of Dundas and the area while maintaining and advancing the traditions of Pride and Respect for Highland Bagpipe music. The Schiehallion Dance Ensemble was established in Hamilton in 1968 by former World Champion Highland Dancer, Sandra Bald Jones. They are a unique Canadian Scottish dance troupe that performs all over the world to share the magic and spirit of Highland Dance. The Schiehallion Dancers were invited to perform for Queen Elizabeth II at a private performance at Balmoral Castle on August 17, 2022. It is believed to have been the final performance for Her Majesty the Queen. The group Islay is made up of Hamilton musicians: Michelle Belshaw, Stan Czajkowski, Joe Lukasik, Peter MacDonald and Chuck McMillan. Stan passed away last year from a heart attack, but the group still feels his spirit with them when they play. Here's what Chuck had to say about the musical friends. "In 2003 I was asked to put a Celtic folk group together for a Dofasco Pipe Band fundraiser. I asked some musician friends if they wanted to have some fun with some Scottish and Irish folk music. They said yes, and our group, Islay, was born. I named it for the island off the west coast of Scotland, famous for friendly people, smoky whisky, and the home of my ancestors. The plan was for our group to play one time, but when it was over we agreed that it was fun and maybe we should try another gig. Twenty- three years later, Islay is still learning, writing and playing Celtic music. Sometimes things just work out." Melyna Foss is a local Celtic folk singer in the traditional sense. She was born and raised in the Dundas area and has always loved folk music. She was a regular performer at the Renaissance Festival and has performed at various Niagara wineries and cafes. Her pure and gentle voice is in demand for weddings and funerals.
