Samewave Radio PRESENTS OTHER RHYTHM: feat. DJ Houseplants

Samewave Radio returns to the incredible Process PDX space for another edition of OTHER RHYTHM, bringing together boundary-pushing sounds from Portland and beyond. This time, we’re welcoming Brooklyn-based DJ, producer, and designer DJ Houseplants back to the Pacific Northwest for a night of lush, hypnotic dance music.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Justin Av, better known as DJ Houseplants, brings a wide-ranging musical background to the dance floor. A former punk and doom metal drummer who later explored shoegaze, IDM, and the world of SoundCloud rap, Houseplants approaches electronic music with a deep appreciation for everything that came before it. His sets weave classic house, jungle, breaks, and bass into something nostalgic, driving, and entirely his own.

Inspired by frequent retreats into the forest, Houseplants describes his music as a space where dancers can “photosynthesize” together, opening up, connecting, and thriving through the energy of the room. Expect hypnotic grooves, four-to-the-floor hooks, hidden gems, and raw, emotive selections that keep the dance floor moving.

With appearances at Elsewhere, The Lot Radio, The Jazz Cafe, Public Works, Kremwerk, and venues across Europe and Asia, Houseplants has shared the stage with artists including Todd Edwards, Ash Lauryn, Park Hye Jin, and DJ Seinfeld. Now, after 90+ shows, a world tour, and a growing catalog of original productions and remixes, he’s bringing that energy back to the Northwest.

Join us for a night of music and collective movement on Process PDX’s immaculate 4-point Danley sound system while support our community-powered radio station.
