The Bega Show Society will be hosting a Paddock to Plate Grazing Dinner on 7 November at the Bega Showground Sapphire Room.
Hosted by Bega AP & H Society
Supported by The Bega Beef Co-op & sponsored by Bendigo Bank
The feature of this event is to showcase dairy beef cattle that have been raised by local school students over the past eighteen months in the Bega Valley.
On 20 September, these cattle will be judged on the hoof at the Bega Showground before being transported to Teys Wagga Wagga or Binderee Beef in Cooma for processing and analysis. The project provides an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the concept of circularity and local food production and how it could potentially be adopted by small landowners throughout the Bega Valley. Landowners could take on weaned dairy beef calves at around 120 days of age, grow them to approximately 400–450 kg, and then send them to a finishing feedlot to produce quality beef. Dairy beef is also recognised for its good marblingcharacteristics.
The Paddock to Plate dinner will bring this journey to the community, with dairy beef presented in a number of ways alongside locally produced food and drinks.
Meal includes:
5 courses featuring beef
