Detroit’s DJ Maaco started out as a drummer before discovering breakdancing, turntablism and eventually music production. Inspired by Gospel, Hip Hop, Techno and Miami Bass, he released his first music in 1992 and later co-founded M.A.P. Records with DJ PDOG, releasing music as Detroit In Effect.
