with Louise Underwood - Do you knit or would you like to learn? This workshop is for you! Join Textile Artist Louise Underwood to learn about the history of knitting, the many different techniques, and find out about designers such as Elizabeth Zimmerman and Kaffe Fassett, as well as celebrity knitters like Audrey Hepburn, Tom Daley, and Julia Roberts. There will be an opportunity to learn the basics: • casting on• knit and purl stitches• and casting offFor those who can knit already, why not bring one of your current projects to show the group or use this as an excuse to start something new for the coming autumn nights! There will also be the opportunity to chat together about decoding knitting patterns and look at other techniques such as Fairisle. If you have any old knitting patterns from your mother or grandmother, please bring them along. It will be fascinating to share our memories of knitting and how styles have changed. Likewise, if you would like to bring any hand-knitted items along to show the range of what we can make!This workshop is for beginners to experienced knitters. Feel free to bring your own knitting needles and wool along, but there will also be needles and wool available to use.
