Description
The class begins with the fundamentals of Eastern movement training, emphasising the essence of breathing and the spiral motion of the nine major joints of our body. Through the conscious expansion and contraction of muscles, participants will explore unique movement qualities. The class focus then shifts to interpersonal connection. Through physical contacts, sensing one another’s weight in movements, breathing, and listening, participants will discover the conversation and the flow within the shared space. Participants will also practice movement combinations and variations to awaken their senses and experience different movement textures. Selected duets from Sounding Light will be introduced during the class, offering participants a little glimpse of the playful interaction and shifting rhythms in the dance work. This is an intermediate level masterclass geared toward advanced and professional dancers as well as advanced full-time dance students. Pre-registration is required and applicants should meet one of the following criteria: Practicing dance professionals in ballet, contemporary dance or Chinese dance Full-time dance students, aged 16 and above, or Dancers with minimum of four years of ballet/contemporary/Chinese dance experience and regular training (minimum twice a week) Be sure to catch Sounding Light by Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan , choreographed by Artistic Director Cheng Tsung-lung, inspired by the sounds, shapes and fluidity of nature.
