This second annual festival invites audiences to explore the collision of fresh contemporary voices with classic stories. A living laboratory of imagination, craft, and bold new directions for the theatre. All Tickets are Choose Your Price Verona Matchmakers By Victoria Evans Erville Verona Matchmakers uses humor and warmth to focus on the mothers of the young lovers, Romeo & Juliet. Lady Capulet and Lady Montague are best friends who have had to hide their relationship because of the long-standing feud they both married into. Together, they resolve to end the feud by uniting their children in marriage; however, the costs of the inherited hatred may be more than their friendship can handle. Engaging with Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet Victoria Evans Erville (Playwright - Verona Matchmakers) is based in San Francisco. She is the recipient of the 3Girls Theatre Brady Fellowship and was a semi-finalist with the Bay Area Playwrights Conference for her play The Lies That Bind as well as with the B-Street Comedy Festival for her play Telling Tales. She has had her plays workshopped with 3Girls Theatre, North Carolina Women’s Theatre Festival, Playground Incubator Series, and Dragon’s Egg Theatre Company. Her play The Music of Mothers was produced by TheatreFirst in Berkeley. Victoria also works as a dramaturg helping writers develop and fine-tune their scripts.
