Kinan Azmeh’s Prayer, composed in Damascus in 2003, honors the humanism and courageous call for justice of Palestinian scholar Edward Said. Sally Lamb McCune’s Valentine No. 1 remembers our friend and mentor Cornell composer Steven Stucky on the 10th anniversary of his passing. Elsewhere, Márton Illés reimagines the music of John Bull across four centuries, Brahms responds to the artistry of clarinetist Richard Mühlfeld, and a new work by composer and singer Sami Anguaya carries these musical conversations into the present.
