A Night of 1587 Pumpkins - 2026

Friday, October 30th, 2026, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm
In 1587, English colonists came to Roanoke Island. Night of 1587 Pumpkins is an event at which we attempt to light 1,587 jack-o’-lanterns. The evening will consist of trick-or-treating, contests, and, of course, pumpkins! Everyone is encouraged to come in costume to enjoy the festivities. Our community helps us carve the pumpkins!  You are invited to come to the Gardens to carve a free jack-o’-lantern on October 28th and/or 29th, which will be added to the pumpkin path. Or bring your own carved pumpkin(s) to the event!
In addition to the vendors listed, the Gardens will have glow sticks and marshmallows for the bonfire.  Don’t forget to stop by the Snack Shack-o’-Lantern for some hot chocolate and apple cider. Come enjoy the spooky, fun-filled evening!  Thanks you to our event sponsor – Dominion Energy.
Pumpkin Carving
Wednesday, October 28th and Thursday, October 29th10a-4p
Come to the Gardens to carve a free pumpkin that we’ll add to the pumpkin path. Find it on the evening of the 30th to take home after the event!
