Description
Her name is Esther Abrahams and she has arrived with her baby on the remote shores of Sydney Cove with the first fleet, having been convicted of stealing some lace. It is not a world she recognizes. Against all the odds – isolation, starvation, back-breaking work, she not only survives but thrives. Her story is told in songs that reflect the time and place of this unique period in Australian history. The music for Lace is by Diana Blom, with lyrics by Diana Weston, and is performed with a chamber ensemble of harpsichord, violin and percussion.
