The inaugural production of Likehearted Productions, ‘Next Customer, Please!’ is set within the familiar, nostalgic, and ever-present British corner shop.
Exploring the British South Asian diaspora’s experience, the play captures the multifaceted everyday life of shop-owner Uncle Iqbal, and his employee, Sohail. Through a rotation of colourful characters and poignant dialogue, Iqbal’s relationship with his identity as a father, neighbour, and boss is crafted and promptly disrupted.
Funny, intimate, and sharp, the production promises a fresh look at a familiar space and looks beyond the words “Next customer, please!”
