It's here. The season opener you've been waiting for! One FULL day of coaching, training + game play. Sunday, October 18, 2026 | 9am to 5pm | Pickering College, Newmarket _____________________________________________________________________ Why attend? This event is for all Catchball players, experienced or brand new. A weekly team practice doesn't leave much room for fundamentals. Season Kickoff gives you dedicated time to build and improve your skills, so you walk onto the court feeling ready to play. Activities run in groups matched to skill level, so you're always in the right place. About the event It's a full day built around the three pillars of a stronger game: Catchball skills, fitness + mobility, and mindset. It starts your season strong and gets you ready for what's ahead, tournaments included. You'll leave sharper than you came in. Led by several experienced coaches, so you get a range of styles and approaches to learn from. A jam-packed day: skills coaching to sharpen your game, a fitness session focused on moving well and preventing injury, mindset training to keep you steady under pressure, and mixed-team scrimmages to put it all together. Catchball skills sessions Players will be grouped by skill level. Attack Level 1: correct spiking technique for a strong two-handed attack Level 2: layup, third-ball play, movement along the net Defence Level 1: how and where to stand on the court, moving to the ball, catching and passing techniques Level 2: proper positioning, reacting to the ball, reading the play Game Play Level 1: bringing your skills to the court, how it all comes together for good game flow Level 2: court vision, smart decision-making, and recognizing opportunities to execute the best attack Training + community This is as much about the people as the play. Between sessions you'll have time to relax, connect, and get to know players from across the community. If you're new, it's one of the easiest ways to feel at home in Catchball.
