Originally formed in Solihull in the mid-‘70s, Swell Maps helped lay the foundations for alternative rock long before the term existed. Blending the urgency of punk with experimental noise, psychedelia and DIY ambition, the band released a string of groundbreaking records before splitting in 1980, leaving a lasting influence on artists including Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Pavement, Stereolab and The Pastels. Now, original member Jowe Head returns with a new line-up carrying that restless spirit forward. Following the release of the acclaimed comeback album C21 in 2026, Swell Maps once again bring their fearless, unpredictable sound to the stage support from the best of Manchester & Leeds: Beau Mec, Autocamper + Elwell
