Their first single ‘Give Ny Regards To The Dancing Girls’ got huge circulation on punk / Indie radio in the US thanks to the championing of DJs on WFMU in New York, Creem Magazine Inspired By The Modern Lovers The Undertones, Protex, The Fall, The Buzzcocks, The Only Ones, Velvet Underground, Wire, Ramones, The Saints. (And of course the Pistols and the clash) Lyrically full of abstract social commentary and stories of the streets. Passionate And Lo Fi - Often compared to The Stiff / Chiswick records output and other clsssic punk / pub rock / new wave of the late 70s and early 80s The Sleeveens have just recorded their second album NATIONAL ANTHEM which will be announced for release by Goner Records in April 2026 ABOUT THE NEW RELEASE - The Sleeveens have a new single hitting the streets Aug 22 on Legendary Memphis imprint ‘Goner Records’ ‘We recorded these songs in Nashville in late 2024 during a short US tour run. Having grown up in Dublin Ireland and starting trying to write songs in the early 2000’s my only real connection to Tennessee was my love of The Compulsive Gamblers and the songs of Greg Cartwright. Downtown was one of the first songs I ever tried to write. I released a very different version of it on a record in the late 2000’s. Little did I know back then that someday I’d live in the US and form a band with three punks from Nashville and give this song (as well as a few others) a new life. It’s a real thrill to have it put out on Goner with a cover version of one of Greg’s songs as the B. Side ‘ Stef Murphy (Dublin Jul 2025) As well as releasing a wealth of incendiary underground garage / punk Goner released development-stage records for Amyl & The Sniffers, Ty Segall, Jay Reateard, King Khan, The Oblivians and more. The Sleeveens Will play a handful of shows and festivals in Aug / Sep including dates with The Chats & The Lemonheads The Sleeveens have completed 4 US tours and one month long tour of Europe. 80-150 packed rooms have been the consistent norm but the band are eager push for a bigger share of the live music / touring universe
