The Cracked House mirrors the South African unstable and often tragic political and economic dilemma through a story about three siblings who reunite after many years for the funeral of their mother. Set in Cofimvaba, Eastern Cape, in 2025, three siblings reunite after their mother’s death. Langa (55), the eldest, has remained home and is haunted by a painful past. Xolani (45), now successful in Johannesburg, returns reluctantly, carrying the scars of childhood abuse and resentment towards his brother, who failed to protect him. Andiswa (30), the youngest, returns hopeful that the reunion can heal their fractured family. But as buried secrets resurface, the siblings are forced to confront betrayal, guilt and trauma.
