ABOUT THE FILMS

Kankantri: In Kankantri (The Silk Cotton Tree),” a woman is transported to the parallel universe of all her different ancestors where she dances and takes part in rituals until she feels whole.
Lampedusa: Lampedusa reveals the challenges and desperation that asylum seekers face in hopes for a better life outcome. A large percentage of asylum seekers live in poverty and are desperate for stability, job security and an overall better life for them and their families. Because of these desperate times, they risk their lives by journeying across the open sea seeking a better life. Featuring vocalists Maryem Tollar and Shameema Soni.
This Is Not a Ghost Story: This is Not a Ghost Story is a cinematic “bio-fairytale” that explores haunting events from life, interwoven with ghost sightings.  As a Maltese immigrant, director Valerie Buhagiar recount lingering struggles and experiences that span from her childhood to the present day. In this lyrical piece, Buhagiar shares moments that shocked, froze, and pulled her backward in time.
