Featuring an all star cast of fabulous burlesque artists from near and far with outstanding acts ready to compete for the buckle!Join us at *The Attic on Friday Nov 20 for the first ever Trans and Gender Non Conforming burlesque competition where we are celebrating the incredible community within burlesque who will flaunt and flirt their way into your heart! Who will take home the title? And join us at *Contemporary Calgary on Saturday Nov 21 for the Best in the West competition where the pros of the industry will dazzle and delight you with eye popping performances of striptease. Be part of the energy of this high altitude burlesque celebration highlighting world class talent!   Each event will be judged by our effervescent headliners!   Moscato Sky (Seattle USA)  The Them Fatale of Drag & Burlesque, Moscato Sky, is a trans Latinx multi-award winning burlesque, drag, and dance artist based in occupied Duwamish territory, Seattle, WA. She was the first trans-femme performer to compete at the Burlesque Hall of Fame and snatched the title of Princess of Burlesque two years in a row. Moscato starred alongside Sasha Velour in the world premiere of Velour: A Drag Spectacular at La Jolla Playhouse directed by Moises Kaufman and has been featured in film and stage productions by BenDelaCream & Jinkx Monsoon. This tempting tart has been voted on the 21st Century Burlesque Top 50 List of Most Influential Burlesque Figures in the world since 2020 and continues to tease, twirl, and transform audiences across the globe.   April O'Peel (Vancouver) A Vancouver burlesque all star, April O'Peel has been listed as one of Canada's top burlesque performers. April O’Peel produces monthly burlesque and cabaret spectaculars at the Rio Theatre with April O'Peel Productions, hosts outrageous bingo nights, and teaches disco dancing in her spare time.  April holds awards from the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival and has also been awarded “Most Comedic” at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas NV. Other notable appearances include the Vancouver Fringe Festival, The Burlesque Hall of Fame, The Accordion Noir Festival, Whistler Pride and Kamloops Pride. April has headlined The Bagel Burlesque Expo, The Itty Bitty Burlesque Festival, The Edmonton Burlesque Festival and has been featured as a soloist and in group performance with the Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society at the Munich Burlesque Festival and the Vermont Burlesque festival. April has also been a feature performer at the Minneapolis Burlesque Festival, the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival and a featured teacher at BurlyCon. April also launched a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the completion of the book The ABC Double D's of Burlesque.   Bea Lissima (Calgary) For the past 18 years Bea Lissima has been performing and producing in the burlesque community. This Moh’kins’tsis born maven has competed at the Japan International Burlesque Festival, performed at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender in Las Vegas. She was awarded “Best Burlesque” at the 2023 Imperial Burlesque Competition in Montreal and was crowned Duchess at the 2024 Pacific Northwest Burlesque Festival. Combining intersex queerness, Filipino heritage, and disability into her performances, she creates a sacred experience for all those brave enough to witness. She’s the leftist centrefold, the headliner that turns your heads, your pearl of the prairies, Bea Lissima!   Karla Marx (Calgary) Karla Marx is a Drag Queen, Burlesque performer, DJ, stand up comedian, and host. She is the mother of Marx Werk Ware Haus and the Artistic Director for The Cabaret Company. Karla has performed across Canada, Europe, and Asia. Karla has won Best Host in Canada three times (2022, 2023, 2025) from Imperial Burlesque Canada, as well as Most Comedic (2022, 2023). She was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal in 2025 for services to the transgender community in Canada. Karla was also award the Blaze Award from the Fire Cracker Department (2025), and the Western Trailblazer Award by the Calgary Stampede (2023). Karla has two stand up comedy albums (Fruity, 2025 and Well, Okay Then, 2023) available on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music. She was featured in Comedy Invasion (2022) now streaming on Tubi and Amazon Freevee. Karla has also hosted the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival (2023, 2024, 2025).   Rita Ann'Tique (Toronto) Rita Ann'tique is an international queer burlesque artist, performer and producer originally from Calgary, AB, based in Toronto, ON. Being lauded as “some of the inspiring talent flourishing in the Canadian dance community,” - David Silverberg, Now Magazine, Rita holds the title of 1st runner up (Princess), as well as ‘Best Duo’ (with duet partner and art spouse Newfound Lad) from the 2024 Imperial Burlesque Canada Competition, Montréal, QC. In 2025 Rita and Lad competed for Best Small Group at the prestigious Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, NV. In November 2025, Rita won the inaugural title of “Best in the West” becoming rodeo royalty at the Alberta Burlesque Rodeo in Calgary, AB. Most recently, Rita competed at the Sicily Burlesque Festival, in Sicily, Italy, taking home the crown for 1st Runner Up (Princess) in April 2026. It can be accessed up one flight of stairs, unfortunately there is no elevator for this venue. We will be addressing this for future ABR events.  Washrooms are gender neutral. Limited booth seating is available, other seating will be 'cabaret style' around small tables, and at the bar. Entry is General Admission. Arrive early for your choice of seats! Tips are welcome and will be collected at intermission. Due to the competition style, please refrain from interrupting the performance, cheers and applause is always welcome! Tips will be split among the cast.   Contemporary Calgary - Heather Edwards Theatre 701 11 St SW, Calgary, AB T2P 2C4 This venue is accessible for wheel chairs and other mobility aids. There are ramps and elevators into the theatre and washrooms. Gendered and non gendered washrooms available, as well as wheelchair accessible washrooms. Limited plus sized seating will be available. The majority of the seating will be raked theatre style seating, with limited VIP seating at the front of the stage available for purchase.  VIP seats will be sold in groups of four around a small cabaret style table at the very front of the stage. A gift, and bottle of prosecco is included in the ticket price and waiting for you at your table.  All other tickets are General Admission. A small market will be set up outside the Heather Edwards Theatre. Tips are welcome and will be collected at intermission. Due to the competition style, please refrain from interrupting the performance, cheers and applause is always welcome!
