Saint Cecilia, The Patron Saint of Music (Guido Reni, 1606) Join TCNJ Choirs, under the direction of John Leonard, for their November 2026 performance. This concert will take place in the Mildred & Ernest. E. Mayo Concert Hall from 7:30–9:00 p.m. TCNJ Choirs 2026-2027 Season is entitled "The Power of Words". Performances will feature compelling choral compositions that truly amplify and empower the texts they set. Our Fall 2026 programs in October and November will focus on English text settings by American and British composers including Benjamin Britten's setting of W. H. Auden's, poem, Hymn to St. Cecilia. TCNJ Choirs 2026-2027 Season is entitled "In Service of the Words". Our performances will feature compelling choral compositions that amplify and empower the texts they set. This second performance includes TCNJ’s College Choir, Chorale, Collegium Musicum and our annual High School Honors Choir. A highlight of this festival of voices will most certainly be Benjamin Britten's incomparable setting of the W. H. Auden, poem, Hymn to St. Cecilia . Britten (1913-1976) is widely considered to be the finest setter of the English Language in Choral Music since Henry Purcell (1659-1695). Hymn to St. Cecilia epitomizes Britten’s unmatched ability to capture the natural stresses, flow, and emotions of the English language in his music that speaks directly to musicians and audiences alike.
