Birmingham LGBT and Trans Fitness CIC are offering swimming sessions at Sandwell Aquatics Centre FREE to trans and non-binary adults (18+) living in or near Birmingham.The hour-long sessions will take place in the accessible Studio Pool which has adjacent gender-neutral changing facilities that we have exclusive access to.Vixx (he/him) from Trans Fitness CIC will meet participants in the reception area from 2.45pm. Pool access is from 3pm.(This is Vixx, so you know who to look for. )Please note that these are not swimming lessons – you should not attend if you don’t feel confident in the water. There will be a lifeguard present.Places are limited and booking is essential. You will not be allowed admittance without booking.We hope you enjoy these sessions, and will be asking for your feedback which will help improve and sustain this activity. There may be a cisgender lifeguard present.ABSOLUTELY NO PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED.For your safety: if you need to be accompanied poolside by a carer or support worker, please contact Maria Hughes (details above) so we can arrange a health & safety risk assessment.Please turn up with appropriate swimwear for the session.If you find after signing up that you can no longer attend on the day, please let Vixx know via email: [email protected]. Otherwise, please cancel your booking on Outsavvy so your place can go to someone else. You can also email Vixx to check if there are any spaces available, on the morning of the session.We reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone we feel maybe a risk to the safety of participants.Any inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated, and may result in a refusal of admission.Anyone turning up 15 minutes or later after the start of the session may be refused admission.Only trans and non-binary participants will be allowed into the session.Anyone who is not trans or non-binary, who wishes to wait whilst you swim, MUST wait upstairs in the main reception area. ACCESS:The staff are here to support all users of this facility; please let them know if you need help. The centre includes the following facilities:Disabled parking and drop off points close to main entrance.Disabled toilets and changing areas, the centre is also a Changing Places facility.Pool pods, Pool hoist, handrails and steps for easy access to swimming pools.Hearing loop facility.Guide dogs are welcome.TRAVEL:You can access travel information and plan cycling, public transport and walking to the centre by using the Transport for West Midlands website.
