京都国際舞踏祭は、桂勘を案内人として、世界各地で息づく舞踏の現場を紹介してきました。 今回の第4回京都国際舞踏祭では、それぞれが自らの土地の歴史、文化、風土を背負った60を超えるダンサーたちが、経験豊かな音楽家や照明家とともに集います。そこでは、ダンスよりも前に存在するもの――まだ名を持たない何か、そして古都・京都だからこそ立ち現れる何かとの出会いへと、皆さまを誘います。ぜひ、「光を着こなす」ダンサーたちの「影」に目を凝らしていただきたい。 そして、国内外 47 の地域から集うダンサーたちとともに、私たちが生きるこの世界で起こり続けている出来事、その鼓動を体験していただきたいと思います。 2028年、舞踏の創始者・土方巽の生誕100年を迎えます。舞踏は、その創始者である土方巽が切り拓いた精神的な高みへと、手を伸ばさずにはいられない、抗いがたい宿命を内に抱えています。 皆さまとこの場を共有し、ぜひその姿を目撃していただけることを、心より願っています。 The Kyoto International Butoh Festival has, with Kan Katsura as its guide, introduced audiences to the living landscapes of Butoh unfolding across the world. The 4th Kyoto International Butoh Festival brings together more than 60 groups of dancers, each carrying the histories, cultures, and particularities of the places from which they come, alongside seasoned musicians and lighting artists. Together, they will invite us into an encounter with something that exists before dance—something unnamed, something that can emerge only here, in the ancient city of Kyoto. We invite you to look closely at the “shadows” of dancers who know how to “wear light.” And we invite you to experience, alongside dancers gathered from 47 regions across Japan and around the world, the pulse of events unfolding in our shared world. In 2028, we will mark the centenary of the birth of Tatsumi Hijikata, the founder of Butoh. Butoh carries within itself an inescapable destiny: the need to reach toward the spiritual heights that Hijikata opened before us. We hope, with all our hearts, that you will join us and bear witness. `
