The Dance Centre presents the Discover Dance! seriesBallet Vancouver & Yolonda SkeltonInside the Creative Process: Winterbourne A rare glimpse behind the curtain, this Discover Dance event explores the making of Winterbourne, which enjoyed its world premiere at Ballet Vancouver's inaugural program this past April. Choreographed by Artistic Director Joshua Beamish with visual design by Gitxsan fashion designer Yolonda Skelton, and set to a score by Cree composer Cris Derksen, Winterbourne is a harmonious integration of Indigenous design and ballet exploring the interconnectedness of all living things. Audiences will experience duet excerpts from the work alongside insight into the creative collaboration. Presented in celebration of Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week (vifw.ca). Duration: approx 60 minutes including talkback. Please note that latecomers will only be admitted at a suitable break in the performance. Accessibility: Performances take place in the Faris Family Studio, our intimate black box theatre space, which is wheelchair-accessible. When booking tickets, patrons who use wheelchairs or other mobility aids should select the ‘accessible’ seat type to ensure seating in the front row which is stair-free: limited spaces available. There are wheelchair-accessible washrooms in the theatre lobby. Please contact us if you require any assistance. Photo: David Cooper
