Mountain Bike: 80 km The The Big 5 will test MTB riders over 80km and 3 000m of climbing. The route is aimed to be the perfect preparation for the 2027 ABSA Cape Epic, to tick a BIG one off your bucket list or just to really challenge your fitness and skills. Every rider will receive a pair of event socks as part of your entry. We were sold out last year, so better get your entry in early to avoid disappointment. We also have tiered entry fees to benefit the early birds. PLEASE NOTE: E-bikes are not allowed on this event. Starting (at 6h30 ) and finishing at De Kykuit Farm, nextdoor to Imbuko Family Wines, outside Wellington, riders will be treated to some amazing mountain biking on the world-renowned trails of the Wellington Trails (and some other sections not normally used!). The infamous Cliffhanger trail will test your single track climbing and descending skills and will reward you with one of the most beautiful 360 views of the Hawekwa Mountains. Bunch starts will be confirmed closer to raceday. Please note that no refunds will be made for this event. If you are unable to ride, you may roll-over your entry to 2027 by arranging this with the organiser ([email protected]). No roll-overs will be allowed after 1 February 2027.
