LGBTQ+ Intro to Rugby (Contact and Non-contact)

Ever wanted to give rugby a go but weren't sure it was for you? Come and play with us, any Saturday. The London Stags are South London's queer rugby club. We play two kinds of rugby, and complete beginners are welcome in both:Touch is a fast, skilful game built on speed, agility and teamwork, with lots of running, passing and space to attack. Our Touch team is mixed and open to every gender. FLINTA players are very welcome: women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender.Union is full-contact rugby, with tackles, scrums and rucks. Contact is introduced gradually, and you're never put into contact before you're ready. Our Union team plays in the men's league. If you're trans or non-binary, our Membership Officer can talk you through eligibility in confidence. Not sure which is for you? Come along and try, and we'll make sure you're with the right group. You don't need to be athletic or know the rules, and people of all ages, shapes and fitness levels play. When and where: every Saturday at Mitcham and Carshalton Rugby Club, Poulter Park, Peterborough Road, Carshalton, SM5 1EE. Arrive at 11:00am, training starts at 11:20am. Your first sessions are free. After you sign up on OutSavvy, just pick a Saturday and turn up. On the day: a warm up and skill drills led by our coaches, then a game to put it all into practice. Afterwards the clubhouse stays open, so stick around for a drink and get to know the team. What to bring: trainers, comfy sports clothes and a water bottle. For Union you'll also need a mouthguard before you take part in any contact, and our coaches will tell you when. There are toilets, showers and private changing rooms in the clubhouse.Find us on Instagram at @thelondonstagsrfc and tap the link in our bio for our new members' guide, FAQs and how to reach our Membership Officer. You can also message us there any time, and we reply to every DM.See you on Saturday. The London Stags has been shortlisted for the Inclusive Club of the Year prize, by Out for Sport UK."Recognises clubs that have embedded equality, diversity and inclusion into their day-to-day, resulting in a genuinely diverse, welcoming membership."
