($20-$30 Tickets + DICE fees | 6:30pm & 8:30pm Shows | 16+) Donny Hathaway was a Grammy Award-winning singer and composer. He is known for his deep, rich voice that brings solace to the soul, his original music, brilliant covers like A Song For You, and his prolific work with Roberta Flack, including Where Is The Love and their rendition of The Closer I Get To You. Growing up in Chicago at the height of the civil rights movement, Hathaway’s music drew on themes of living in the ghetto, freedom, love, and more.

Like many artists, Hathaway was gifted, but also troubled. Between 1973 and 1974, around the height of his career, Hathaway was repeatedly hospitalized and diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. In 1979, he fell from his New York hotel room window to his death at the age of 33. Much speculation surrounds his death, which was ultimately ruled a suicide.
