There is something magical about gathering together, drinking tea and engaging in warm, grounded conversation in good company. Holding space for introspection in a group-setting allows us to learn from each other, broaden our perspectives, grow inspired and gain deeper understanding of themes in our own lives.Upon the pouring of the first flight of tea, we take a moment to tune in to our bodies, paying attention to what arises. The taste, the smell, the feelings it evokes. Sharing this with others, acknowledging what comes up is a beautiful practice that happens organically, flowing in whatever way is needed on a group level. The second pour (and those thereafter) brings us deeper; questions are asked and if comfortable we can answer, the tea activating the parts of us waiting to be illuminated. It is powerful, the feelings of safety such a simple act can give to the body, and it encourages the release of what need not be held internally any longer. Each flight carries a different energy, and this shows up differently in each individual. The themes explored during Spirit Flights include the following:Curiosity~ Thoughts, feelings, memories will surface as we connect and hear from each other in this space. We can share as much or as little as we would like, either way we are engaging the parts of ourselves that most need our love and attention.Reflection~ Whether we speak aloud or write it down, the questions asked pull at the heartstrings and invite our conscious awareness to the various themes of our lives- what energies we have been moving through, what these experiences have taught us, what has been difficult and what has inspired us. All of this will be explored.Illumination~ The overlapping energies of the group tend to awaken us to things we have not thought of before. We will become aware of ways in which we can utilize these discoveries in our daily routines, habits, and ways we move forward. It also shows us that we are not alone in this.Gratitude~ With the moon at peak illumination, we give thanks for all the changes, all the connections, the lessons and the blessings that have transpired throughout the lunar cycle.Release~ Umeya considers gratitude and release to be the two pillars of this lunation. Just as we give thanks for all we have, so too must we release what no longer aligns. There is a certain art of letting go.** This grounded, reflective energy is carried with us through the weeks leading into the New Moon, where we convene again for Medicine for the Soul. **
