Esoteric Etchings

This session of Esoteric Etchings will combine clothed figure drawing with surrealist exercises that have their origins in esoteric practice, to unlock our creative expression.

In this session, we will break down the barriers to our intuition, without perfectionism or other restrictions interfering, and connect to our inner world through automatism. We will try different methods, such as speed drawing and non-dominant hand drawing, working from observation with the mystical model Bevelly Strange as our inspiration. The goal of the session will not be technical reproduction, but creative expression, using the form to play with shape and tone and experiment with different styles and ideas.

While it is a facilitated session with exercises and prompts, it is untutored by design, allowing your practice to be self-led and focusing on unlearning expectations around how you approach your art to find pure creative expression. We will have alt model and peculiar performance artist Bevelly Strange as our figure for the session. Please not this is a clothed figure drawing session.

A drink from the bar at Coven HQ is included with your ticket.

Basic drawing materials (paper and graphite pencils), will be provided. Please feel free to bring a sketchbook if you prefer, and any other materials you'd like to experiment with.
