"In the wake of his attorney mother's sudden death, dutiful law student Jude Aguilar returns to the town of Lazaro to take over her practice-but the only thin stranger than the peculiar cases she left behind are the client themselves.Set in an alternate universe, anachronistic version of 19th century colonial Philippines, Strange Cases explores questions of morality, justice, and what truly makes a monster." The launching of strange cases will include a discussion with the author, followed by a panel discussion and a book-signing. All proceeds from book sales will go to families of victims of extrajudicial killings in the Philippines, for the benefit of KARAPATAN - an alliance of individuals, groups, and organsiation working for the promotion and protection of human rights in the Philippines.
