Centered around the theme of tribute, this thoughtfully curated program honors musical legacy, personal reflection, and historical influence through a diverse and compelling repertoire. The program opens with Flaxen Tresses by James David , a lush and expressive work inspired by a short fantasia by Claude Debussy’s piano prelude La fille aux cheveux de lin (Girl with the Flaxen Hair). Rich in color and texture, the piece evokes a sense of nostalgia and quiet beauty, offering a reflective musical tribute to Debussy. The concert continues with Song for My Parents by Andrew Boysen Jr. , a deeply personal and heartfelt work written as a tribute to the composer’s parents, Andrew and Lynne. “Their love, support and encouragement made me who I am today and it is impossible for me to reflect through words my true feelings for them. ” The evening concludes with a spirited performance of Old Ironsides March by John Philip Sousa , celebrating the 100th anniversary of this iconic composition. Written in honor of the USS Constitution , Sousa’s march stands as a powerful tribute to American history and remains a cornerstone of the wind band tradition. “This program is about connection—between history and the present, between composers and performers, and between music and memory,” said conductor Timothy Harris. “Each piece offers a unique form of tribute, and together they create a meaningful and engaging musical experience.” Admission is open to the public.
