TWO WAYS TO EXPERIENCE THE LLAMA SANCTUARY When booking, please choose the ticket for the experience you would like: GUIDED SANCTUARY TOUR – Available Daily Discover the fascinating world of llamas and alpacas on an educational guided tour through The Llama Sanctuary. Meet many of our 60+ rescued residents, hear their individual stories and learn about camelid behaviour, communication, care and welfare. Your guide will explain what makes llamas and alpacas unique, how we care for animals with different needs, and some of the important lessons we have learned through rescue and rehabilitation. You'll visit the barns and paddocks and have opportunities to hand-feed some of our friendly and inquisitive residents. Even visitors who begin a little nervous around large animals often gain confidence through calm, respectful interaction. And, of course, we'll answer that all-important question about llama spit — no, they won't spit at you! WALK A LLAMA OR ALPACA – Tuesdays & Sundays Only @ 2:30pm A shorter, small-group educational experience offering closer interaction with one of our llamas or alpacas. Your experience begins with a meet and greet with your camelid companion , where you'll learn about their individual personality and how to approach, communicate with and handle them calmly and respectfully. You'll then head out together for a walk, putting what you've learned into practice and discovering how llamas and alpacas respond and communicate as you walk with them. After the walk comes the important part — a well-earned treat and thank-you for your companion! This experience is about much more than simply walking a llama. It provides an opportunity to learn about animal behaviour, communication, responsible handling and compassionate animal care through direct, supervised interaction. Places are strictly limited to five walkers per session , allowing plenty of individual attention for both our visitors and our animals. Minimum age to walk a llama or alpaca is 10 years. A younger child may accompany a walker under strict adult supervision and is charged the full accompanying rate. About The Llama Sanctuary The Llama Sanctuary provides lifelong care and rehabilitation for rescued llamas and alpacas while helping visitors develop a greater understanding of these remarkable animals and the importance of humane and compassionate animal care. Our educational visitor experiences combine learning with respectful interaction, giving people of all ages an opportunity to better understand the animals with whom we share our world. After your visit, browse The Sanctuary Gift Shoppe , featuring llama, alpaca and kitty-themed handcrafted items, fibre and craft supplies, and more. Our Thrift Shop will also be opening soon. You are welcome to enjoy a hot or cold drink in our covered picnic area while watching the llamas and alpacas go about their day. Good to Know Guided Tours are suitable for all ages. Infants are free but must remain in the constant care of an adult. Camelids are large animals, so young children must be closely supervised for everyone's safety. Wheelchair-accessible toilet available. PLEASE NOTE: After booking, watch for a follow-up email containing directions and entry information. Dogs are not permitted within the Sanctuary. Our parking area is not shaded, so please avoid bringing pets whenever possible. Llama & Alpaca Walking is a separate experience, available Tuesdays and Sundays only, with a maximum of five walkers per session. Please select the appropriate ticket when booking.
