CWFEN + Hemloch

Halifax's 3rd Goth Festival presents CWFEN + Hemloch

Emerging from Glasgow’s heavy music scene 18 months ago, Cwfen (Coven) have already proven themselves as a force of nature, fusing the crushing weight of doom metal with the ghostly haze of gothic post-punk. Their sound is relentless – dark, atmospheric, and impossible to ignore.

Their debut single Reliks was released on Halloween 2024, earning instant praise from Kerrang!, who called it a “beguiling blend of doom and gothic post-punk for those who like to live deliciously”. They’ve already shared stages with heavyweights like Deafheaven, Rolo Tomassi, and Liturgy, winning fans for their range and their intense live performances.

With a knack for big riffs and emotional intensity, they’re pulling in metal diehards and outsiders alike. A debut album is on the way through New Heavy Sounds, they’re ready to drag the Scottish underground into the light.

Hemloch are a Symphonic Metal band, hailing from Yorkshire and Herts. Hemloch channel raw emotion, delving into the apocalyptic. Summoning the influence of myth, darkness, and the chaos of modern life, Hemloch craft songs that feel both otherworldly and deeply human. They don’t shy away from the void, they challenge it.
