How to Build a ______ by Ching Chu and Dear, by Rosalie Ng, a double bill of choreographic new voices, is a featured programme of LCSD’s “Hong Kong Artists” Series, which offers a platform for local young choreographers to develop new medium scale dance works in a professional setting. Through ongoing mentorship from artistic advisor, the choreographers elevate creative quality, gain comprehensive professional production experience, build collaborative relationships with artists across disciplines, and broaden their creative horizons.

How to Build a ______ draws from everyday tool operation and physical hardware labour, exploring collision between the body, technical skill, and gendered expectations, presenting the female body as operational and adaptable.

Dear, explores the long aftershock that follows loss. As memories of the past quietly seep into daily life, something else is also slipping away—perhaps a person, a relationship, or a former version of oneself. Faced with farewells that feel inescapable and may arrive at any moment, how might we learn to live alongside them?

The running time of each performance is approximately 1 hours and 15 minutes including an intermission of 15 minutes.

Members of the audience are strongly advised to arrive punctually. Latecomers and those who leave their seats during the performance will only be admitted and allowed to return to their seats respectively during the intermission or at a suitable break. The presenter reserves the right to refuse admission of latecomers, or determine the time and manner of admission of latecomers.

The presenter reserves the right to change the programme and substitute artists.

The content of the programme does not represent the views of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
