Light, Depth, Expression with Jon Watson Term 4 2026

Description

This series of pastel classes will introduce a fresh range of techniques to help participants further develop their pastel skills and create more depth, atmosphere and realism in their artwork. The workshop will explore atmospheric perspective, hard and soft edges, reflected light and colour, lost-and-found edges, selective detail, and complementary colours for richer shadows and highlights. Participants will also experiment with directional mark-making and varied pastel pressure to create texture and expressive surfaces while avoiding over-blending. Particular attention will be given to how light influences colour, form and focal points, helping participants produce stronger, more dimensional artworks. Suitable for beginner to intermediate artists.
