Eklavya – The Wronged

English, Hindi & some Marathi Play

Eklavya: The Wronged is a contemporary retelling of the story of Eklavya from the Mahabharata.

Eklavya, an exceptional archer, poses a threat to the prophecy of Arjun being the best archer ever. Eklavya wants to learn from Dronacharya, but is refused, and yet, eventually, has to sacrifice his thumb as guru dakshina , for “learning” from Drona’s statue.

The play is a tragicomedy reimagined through the lens of systemic, caste-based exclusion in present-day educational institutions. The story is brought alive through music, movement, and martial arts.
