GORGE Presents: Learn to Commentate with Silk PinkLady

Grab the mic and find your voice! Learn the foundations of Ballroom commentary with Silk PinkLady.
Commentary is an essential part of a Ballroom function, the commentator works alongside the DJ to build energy, uplift walkers, engage the crowd, and keep the function moving. In this introductory workshop, Silk will break down the fundamentals of finding your rhythm on the mic, working with music and beats, developing chants and catchphrases, calling categories, and responding to what's happening in the room.
Participants will explore vocal confidence, timing, improvisation, crowd engagement, and how to develop their own personality and style as a commentator. You'll also learn about the role, responsibilities, culture, and etiquette of holding the mic within Ballroom.
Whether you're interested in Ballroom commentary, MCing and hosting events, developing your stage presence, or simply becoming more confident on the mic, this workshop is an opportunity to learn, experiment, and get some hands-on practice.
No previous commentary, MCing, or Ballroom experience required.
