Descripción

Join Bogdana Ababii for a wander through Hackney’s marshes, getting to know the fungi quietly flourishing beneath our feet, on trees and among the marsh’s’ wilder corners. Led by Bogdana, the walk will introduce participants to the basics of fungi identification while exploring mushrooms as much more than isolated specimens. Together, we’ll consider fungi as collaborators and important allies within our shared natural-cultural ecologies, forming kinships, thriving through interdependence and challenging the boundaries between individual lives.Expect close looking, collective learning and plenty of frolicking. No previous fungi knowledge is needed just curiosity, weather-appropriate clothing (once you book your slot, we'll let you know about what you need a couple of days in advance) and a willingness to get a little entangled. What to bring:- walking shoes or bootsweather-appropriate clothes that feel most comfortable to you (waterproofs, warmer layers, a warm hat, gloves etc.)- bottle of water or flask with hot drink- snacks to keep you nourishedWe can provide a portable stool if needed (please contact us ahead of the event). We will be providing fungi ID keys/ books and hand lenses. The route may take us through different habitats on uneven terrain, however the final route and the pace will be dictated by the needs of the group on the day. The walk will go ahead on rainy days (provided the weather conditions don’t worsen. Please email [email protected] or Instagram DM: @fungal.kin_ if any of the above acts as a barrier to your participation or if you have any other access needs or concerns.
