- These walks promoting Paul's book London’s Dead Pubs will explore the sites and the social history of former pubs of Peckham and Deptford featured in the book—along with many more—adding up to nearly 40 lost pubs in total. We’ll also see several former clubs and live music venues, as well as the sites of Millwall FC’s Old Den and the New Cross Stadium, once famed for speedway and stock-car racing.Along the way, we’ll raise a glass to the pubs that are still going strong, stopping for a drink during the walk and again at one or two venues at the end near Deptford Bridge DLR Station. PS, I have encountered more cats and discarded mattresses and sofas on this route, than on any other walk!Walk duration: Approx 5 hours.
