HANNAH SANDERS & BEN SAVAGE

with The Grand Old Echo - Hannah Sanders and Ben Savage are nothing short of captivating, not only in their exceptional musicality, but in the enchanting intimacy of their connection, both to each other and their audience. “There can’t be many finer sights than Hannah and Ben huddled in close proximity around a microphone delicately playing through Ribbons and Bows, smiling knowingly at one another in the knowledge that they’re creating something magical.” So said ATB reviewer Mike Ainscoe who, in that short sentence, has captured the very essence of their live show – a magical couple of hours in the presence of a pair of enchanting musicians. The combination of their voices is just one of the things that make their performance so remarkable. Hannah has a high, clear voice that she uses with incredible control, while Ben has a rougher, smoky, almost Cajun depth. The combination is like peaches and cream with hot honey, each complimenting the other into something really special. Add to this their superb musicianship and musicality, the up close and personal intimacy around a single mic, resulting in a soundtrack of immeasurable subtlety and sensitivity. Undeniably, they provide a whole evening that’s a warming and thoroughly captivating musical experience. From the soaring harmonies, the skilful storytelling, the cheerful conversation and the instrumental skill, dripping harmonics like rain from the strings, this is the kind of spellbinding that you suspect is probably supposed to exist at a pagan solstice celebration.
