Write On is an 8-week small-group workshop intended for intermediate writers who are working on a bigger project. We will focus on developing and strengthening the ability to deliver and receive critical feedback to grow as both readers and writers.
Each week will see feedback given to one author whose work will be shared with the group the previous week. It is expected that each participant will dedicate 1-3 hours outside of weekly sessions to reading a member of the cohort's work, considering and making notes for discussion. All participants will give written/typed notes (in person or via email) to author after discussion of their work. It is expected that each participant will share work with the group for feedback.
Feedback will be given from the standpoint of readers rather than editors. During our weekly sessions, we will come together to discuss the work as readers in order to delve deeper. Feedback will NOT be given on the technical, ie. spelling, grammer, etc. Writing can be at any point in development. First drafts are welcome. Write On is intended to aid writers in getting their work to final draft. All forms/genres of human writing are welcome; from playwrights, poets, essayists, fiction to non-fiction writers.
