Marie France Forcier
Title: From Trauma and Beyond: Constructive Expressive Inhabiting
Description: From the experiential lens of an artist investigating pre-reflexive drives from embodied trauma in the dance making process and a framework developed from existing theories and practices in art, performance, dance, dance movement therapy, somatic therapies, memory, trauma studies and embodied consciousness, this participatory presentation outlines the inception of a systematic approach transforming interoception and proprioception into creative production. Constructive Expressive Inhabiting, this systematic approach, emerged from experimenting with somatic strategies to identify where trauma may specifically live in the body and how creative material may emerge from these spaces. Born out of trauma research but having yielded results beyond that scope, Constructive Expressive Inhabiting is a cumulative system based on the metaphor of body-as-home and organised for application to embodied creative inquiries at large.

DNCE531 Panel
Senior choreography students' research presentations, presented in solo format and including written and embodied work.
