Chinese rapper, singer and producer jackzebra makes his Australian debut this December with shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Emerging from China's online rap underground, jackzebra has developed a distinct sound across cloud rap, plugg and trap, built around heavily Auto-Tuned Mandarin vocals and hazy, futuristic production. After beginning in a bedroom studio in 2018, his music found an audience through Weibo, SoundCloud and underground rap communities outside China. He later joined New York collective Surf Gang, placing him within a wider international network of experimental rap. Released through Surf Gang, Hunched Jack Mixtape features production from Evilgiane, Elipropperr, James Ferraro, Glasear and Woesum. The 22-track project connects the current Chinese underground with New York's avant-rap scene. The Australian dates mark jackzebra's first performances in the country.
