About the book.In Paige text, a woman is policed by her partner for dressing too sexy when she drops off her kids. Paige’s text grapples with the shame in T4T relationship, of hurting each other and being hurt by each other. J’s texts exist on the knife edge between alternative reality and our reality. Laurie takes us down a website chat forum rabbit hole of nullification. Allie reinvents a genre of stoner existentialism. Weird fiction is back. Lux turns the coming-of-age story into something monstrous, following a seemingly ordinary teenage girl with a hunger for boys. In Sufjan’s piece, our protagonist finds himself in a dazed, disassociated state on holiday, musing over the meaning of language and interpretation. Moving between childhood memory, and folklore, Nora’s piece finds an intimate connection between the wounds carried by the body and those carried by the land. Soils' community satire balances vulnerability and irony. Keenan's narrator struggles to write a perfect text message. Rhian asks the question: What makes a QTBIPOC orgy possible? Their pieces consider consent and illness, and the things we can only learn by living through them. Han’s Sebalsque writing bridges the personal and political in his quest to understand the policing of queer bodies. Beth writes about Annie Ernaux, diaries and the struggle to make a coherent story. Dudley’s poem WHY ARE YOU SO ANNOYING?. unfolds the protective and disruptive powers of being annoying. In George’s essay, the phenomenon of girl math describes the impossibilities of putting a price on the invalubility of surgery and a good jacket. Joni has a lot of fans. “We believe that writing for a trans audience can produce work that is confronting, energising and, perhaps, more reflective of the contemporary moment in Britain. Over the course, many of our guest lecturers proposed that leaning into the frictions of the world we exist within might be a source for inspiration.” Edited by Donna Marcus Duke and Elliot Lind About the courseSchool of Cvntology is a three-month trans writing course covering topics such as humour, autofiction, trans writing genealogy, creative research, and publishing, through weekly sessions led by guest lecturers including Morgan M Page, Traviz Alabanza, Czech Hunter Schaefer, Shon Faye, Jackie Ess, Lauren J Joseph, Claire Star Finch, Remi Graves, Maxe Crandall, Shola von Reinholdt, Sticky Fingers Publishing and Marlo D Mortimer.
