Rootweave

with Famous Red Tights - Rootweave is the creative revolutionary work of Brighton based multi-instrumentalist and wordsmith Em Swift. They blend contemporary folk and invocation-like spoken word, with influences ranging from Celtic trad, strings metal, and Italian folk-pop. Their raw, powerful lyrics, voice and unique folk style thread together stories of grief, community, ancestral reconnection, deep time, change and liberation. Their music truthfully and passionately accompanies listeners through this age of collapse and transformation. For fans of Kae Tempest, Climbing Poe Tree, La Nina, Grace PetrieWe're very excited to be bringing them to Reading and to the Rising Sun Arts Centre.Support comes from Famous Red Tights, a solo folk artist focusing on fingerpicking, illustrative narration and the folkish revival. She draws inspiration from an amalgamation of local music, folk artists such as Pentangle and from scanning a fretboard until it sounds right enough.
